It's so nice to have the longer evenings and enjoy some lovely spring weather.
We enjoyed some lovely music sessions this month. Steve Holford joined us one afternoon and entertained us with some great songs. We also welcomed back Hazel, our harpist for the first time this year, it was a bright sunny day but not quite warm enough to hold it outside as we did last year, but maybe in a couple of months.
Jan took the church service; she is looking really well after having her second knee replacement and we look forward to having her back in the home regularly as soon as she is able.
In art and craft, one of our volunteers Jenny came in one afternoon bringing some willow with her, and we made two sturdy obelisks for the garden to grow sweet peas up, with a bit left over we made a cloche for the lupin to grow though. We also had an enjoyable music and Easter Card making afternoon.
Seeds were sown; runner beans, cucumber, tomatoes and beetroot. Some Californian poppies were also planted on seed and propagation day when our activities co-ordinator Louise took some residents to Combwich Market Day. One of our residents has tended all those seedlings well and has also planted out chitted potatoes which are doing well. We have had a couple of meals so far from our purple sprouting, planted last spring. And our onions and garlic are growing well. We have refreshed our herb garden and potted on some escaping mint and pot marigold seedlings, so all our extra seedlings can go to seed swops later on.
We had some lovely quilted lap quilts donated to us from Quantock Quilters, they look so cheerful in the lounge and were very much appreciated.
We are all looking forward to warmer days to come and sitting in the garden again.
