The Hedgehog Visit

We enjoyed some good music to sing along to with Graham McPhearson playing on the guitar, and some lively tunes from the 50s and 60s, it got residents singing along and tapping their feet. On another occasion Chris played the organ, with a variety of tunes, and Chris J played some sing a long tunes on his guitar.

Jan gave a lovely church service. We will miss Jan next month as she is having her second knee operation, so we wish her well with that.

One of our volunteers, Joan came in and led a reminiscing session, she brought in a large Russian copper and brass urn, to start off the conversations, which it certainly did. Joan came in and did some individual sessions on another occasion. We continued with our usual games and exercise.

Nick came in for the first time with his collie dog Laddie; everyone enjoyed him visiting and he will come back every month. Claire came in with an adorable African hedgehog, residents could handle her, and she often tried to hide in their jumpers or up their sleeve, she was very sweet. Claire will now bring her in most months, although the hedgehog would normally be sleeping in the daytime. The hedgehog certainly appeared to like meeting people and being handled. And unlike our native hedgehogs we were pleased to know she didn't have fleas.

We now have our new hairdresser, Tracey coming in on a regular Wednesday. There was a residents meeting this month which was well attended.

Many of our volunteers got together at the cottage Inn to meet and chat, it was a relaxed and very enjoyable evening. It was good for them to meet other volunteers and chat about what they did.
