It's so good to feel Spring in the air and the rain has finally eased. Residents have been able to venture outside at last and have a stroll around the garden.
There was a lovely mix of music this month from our usual entertainers. Simon came and gave us a great selection of country tunes, accompanied by his guitar, many were well known to us. David came and sung some sea shanties; he had his usual friendly banter and sang some well know tunes for all to join. Chris joined us and played a good selection of tunes on the organ. Then Andy came with Micky, and they sang some lovely tunes, accompanied by their guitars and the accordion.
We had a trainee vicar trainee called Richard join us for the church service. Richard chatted to residents, then took the service while our resident organist played the organ, it went very well.
In Art and Craft residents made some very colourful decorated bird houses, they were made of flat ply, but we decoupaged images of birds and wildlife onto them. We have them on display but eventually residents will have them in their rooms or give them away as presents. We also made some simple paper daffodils for St David's Day, which the residents enjoyed doing.
Laddie the collie and his owner Nick came back to visit.
We are looking forward to going into the garden more this month, and starting to sow seeds, thinking about what we might grow, so one sunny afternoon some residents joined our activities co-ordinator on a trip to Monkton Elm Garden centre. They bought some seed potatoes and a few more herbs for the herb garden, and everyone bought a little something for themselves. They all very much enjoyed their time there including a nice lunch.
We had our usual selection of exercise sessions, games, quizzes stories and an interesting poetry session which consisted of mostly singing old rhymes.
