Today we were visited today by a selection of animals from Kingston Exotics.
First we saw a lovely inquisitive hamster who was happy to be handled and stroked. Next we saw a rat and there was a general reluctance at first to hold him but soon when reassured that he was tame and very friendly everyone held and stroked him realising he wasn’t at all like people imagine rats to be. Guinea pigs were the next to be shown and handled, they were so calm and relaxed and enjoyed snuggling in and being stroked.
The afternoon finished with two young bantams, a Silkie and a Pekin. Both were used to being handled so were happy to be on people's laps. The difference in their feathers was very interesting, the Silkie’s were soft and fluffy and a very unusual colour, the Pekin had markings like a female pheasant.
Another visit is planned for the 3rd July with different animals.
