It was nice to receive a thank you from The Poppy Appeal Organiser as the residents raised £49.09.
There has been a variety of music sessions this November with some of our regular entertainers. David came in and sang some sea shanties and other familiar tunes. Chris joined us and played his guitar, performing his very popular sing-along songs with some Christmas hits and some carols. Another Chris played the organ, with a variety of swing and Christmas songs.
The Ukulele group from Stogursey provided a fun filled hour, there were eleven players, so we had quite a room full. It was good to see Lesley, one of our newly retired staff back in The Vicarage with her ukulele.
Our vicar Jan provided a lovely Remembrance Service for residents and visitors, and our resident musician played the organ for us.
We had some good art and craft sessions, the residents enjoyed making some effective Christmas cards. In another session we made some tree decorations for the local Christmas tree festivals. This year we are decorating a tree at Stogursey and Cannington churches. We chose to use some items we had already made using knitted squares and paper flowers, they looked effective and original. Jan and Jenny, two of our lovely volunteers came in and helped so everyone got a fair amount of assistance.
Some residents went to the Christmas Market at Stockland one Saturday afternoon, enjoying some refreshments and bought a few bits. There will be other opportunities in December, so let's hope the weather stays good.
Our other games filled gaps with a bit of flexercise every week.
