Art & Crafts

We have started planting seeds, this year we are planting more edibles than we have planted before. Tomatoes have been sown, together with green and yellow courgettes, beetroot and salad leaves, carrots, onions and a tub of potatoes. We also sowed a few flower seeds mostly to attract the bees and other pollinating insects. For cucumber and pepper, we will hopefully buy some plug plants, unless anyone has some to spare or would like to swap some, we might even be able to enter a few categories at the Combwich flower show this year.

There has been some interesting music throughout the month. Hazel returned and played the Harp on St David's Day which everyone thoroughly enjoyed, she played a beautiful selection of pieces.

We had some thought-provoking music for a music quiz, mainly from some children's favourites which brought back a lot of memories and reminiscing. We also enjoyed a morning sing a-long. Chris came at the end of month to play his guitar which we all enjoyed again.

For a nice change we had a magician come to give residents a show, he was very good and certainly fuelled our imagination. How did he completely tear a newspaper up then he unfolded it and it was all back together again? How did he produce an egg out of an empty bag that Ellie and Renee had been holding? How did he entwine solid hoops, and find the missing card in the centre of an orange he had stored on Connie's trolley at the beginning of the act? He had everyone mesmerised!

In art and craft on St David's Day we made leeks to put with our Daffodil's which looked very effective. The snowdrops we made earlier on in the year we turned into cards to give the ladies on International Women's Day.

We had a drawing morning, and a few residents got into the detail of our magnolia tree creating some very good pictures. We also enjoyed some Easter Craft creating an interesting selection of bright paper flowers of daisies, hyacinths, dandelion and roses, made to complete our Easter decorations.

Scrabble continues to be popular and everyone is improving. Board games generally are also a favourite along with Bingo.
