April Sunshine

We saw a wonderful amount of sunshine in April, residents have been sitting outside and enjoying helping the vegetables along and preparing some for the upcoming plant sale in the village.

Obviously, Easter was on our mind, and to set it off Jenny McCubbin came in and made willow wreaths in the garden, which gave us a lot more space and it was lovely to be outside. It went well with residents decorating them in their individual way.

Some residents went to Monkton Elm Garden Centre to buy some plants to make Easter Baskets with Mike and Maria from Combwich Garden Club. Residents enjoyed a wander around, picking up some suitable small plants for the baskets, then recovered with a cup of tea in the cafe.

The baskets turned out very well and decorated the home around the Easter week, before we gave them to the gardener Kevin to pop into the ground.

Alison gave a lovely Easter church service, and we had an Easter egg hunt around the home on Easter Saturday. Two residents handed out the beautiful chicks they had knitted for all the residents which were much appreciated. Colouring and a creative collage were made.

Steve Holford came and sung for us one afternoon which everyone appreciated, and we have enjoyed our own music afternoons.

One sunny afternoon some residents enjoyed a trip to Watchet where we got out by the Quay side and had an ice cream.

We had an outside gardening session at the top allotment and planted the runner beans, courgettes and pumpkins, all which looked in very good health.

We have been continuing with our many other games, enjoying Hangman, the tray memory game, scrabble, bingo and other board games. Soon we will be enjoying further activities outside.
